1st Borough Green Cubs Camping Trip
19th October 2009
Ashley, a member of the 1st Borough Green Cub Scouts, recently sent us the following article about a camping trip they went on. Ashley is working on their Kent Invicta Challenge award, and by having this article published, it's another item achieved.
1st Borough Green Cub Scouts went to Wilberforce campsite at the beginning of September. Friday night we played on the swings and in the trees. Then at night time we played with water balloons with the leaders then we had a hot chocolate and went to bed late. The next day we all got on a red double-decker London bus and we went to Chislehurst Caves. The Caves were a bit scary because the guide was telling ghost stories and then there were drums playing. After the first time it was okay. We went under this ditch that had been dug during the Civil War near a door that led to a house. In the Civil War they put sharp spikes in the ditch so the owner of the house used to run from the house and jump over the ditch but the person chasing him would fall into the ditch.
Next we walked to Bromley and bought some sweets and then we hiked back to the camp it was 8 miles in all! The next day we went grass sledging at the campsite, then we went pond dipping, which was fun. It was an awesome camp and I want to go again.
Well Done Ashley!
