Kent International Jamboree - Opening Ceremony
29th July 2013
“The parade to the opening ceremony was led by the Empower sub-camp, they paraded through the campsite picking up the other sub-camps as they went along. As they walked along behind their banners and flags, everyone “high-fived”, old friends met one another along the way and new friends were made. It was a demonstration that Scouting truly is a world-wide organisation. At the end of the ceremony the KIJ symbol which we had watched being assembled on Friday from crates of water was lit up and lasers strobed the sky. Everyone had a good time with singing and dancing until dark.”
“Scouts from Larkfield in Malling District spent the day in London visiting the Tower of London one of them commented:
“I thought the trip was really fun and enjoyed it. We all laughed loads and I got to see the Crown Jewels and Adam was invested on the lawn outside – that was great.”
